So I FINALLY have some colored denim and when I was first deciding what to wear with my cobalt pair from Calvin Klein, I thought I would probably start out with something neutral, but when I found this striped blazer at Charlotte Russe on Saturday, I knew that I would immediately want to pair the two together! I wore this outfit yesterday to run some errands and go out to dinner with friends. It is just one of those color combinations that makes you feel confident and vibrant and well you simply can’t go wrong with a strappy pair of heels!
My First Week with Instagram
It has only been my first week with Instagram and I am already addicted! I love sharing and seeing everyone’s photos! You can follow me @ rachelslookbook
Brighten Your Day
My work uniform during spring and summer almost always includes a pencil skirt and pumps and when I need a little something extra, I go for a bright patterned shirt like this one that I recently found at H&M. Layering a couple necklaces and adding a bracelet, it is an easy, comfy ensemble that wears well throughout the work day! Happy Friday Eve everyone!
Seeing Double: Sister Style
My little sister and I literally wore the same openwork sweater within one day of each other!!!!… (you can see my full outfit post with this sweater here) I love how she paired it with with a navy skirt and wore her hair up! We have always loved the same things, so when we saw this sweater at Forever 21, we both had to get one! I wanted to share this because my little sister has always been such a fun person to share my love of fashion with… we love sharing outfit ideas, giving each other advice and flipping through magazines or scrolling through blogs together! Do you share a similar style with anyone in your family?
Tie Tuesday
I have always wanted to be able to tag along with the boys and I’m guessing I get that from my mother who grew up with six brothers. With that said, when my boss told me that one of the guys at work is trying to bring back “Tie Tuesday” I decided I wanted join! I have always been drawn to menswear looks, but recently Alicia’s post from Fashion by Alicia on Evan Rachel Wood and Carry On Couture’s menswear inspired look have really inspired me. My result: My boyfriend’s tie with cropped black pants, a vest, blazer and a ruffle fuchsia blouse (because I still need my feminine touches!)
Here’s to 100 Posts!
This is officially the 100th post! I am so excited that I have reached this landmark and cannot believe how quickly it has come! I want to thank ALL of you for visiting, commenting and for those who participated in my first themed week! (there will be more to come in the near future)! I am extremely humbled by the feedback and had no idea the amazing fashion blogging community I was entering when I first started posting four months ago. You have all been so helpful, inspirational and supportive and I can’t tell you how happy I get each and every day to interact with all of you!
Weekend Recap: Sister’s Prom!
I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! I went home to Iowa to celebrate Veishea at Iowa State with my friends and took a quick trip home to Cedar Falls to see my little sister for her last prom! We got the dress from the Mall of America back in February when her and my mom came to visit! It was fun watching her get her hair done and then helping her do her make-up and get her dress on. Her boyfriend and her looked amazing and I know they had a great time and I went back to see my friends! Doesn’t get much better than seeing my friends and family!
What I’m Wearing: Blue Cardigan & Leopard Print
These days, casual Fridays are very casual. I have been feeling extremely exhausted by the time Friday rolls around, so any type of comfort I can take in being able to wear jeans, slouchy tees or loose cardigans… I go for it. Of course, I try my best to be casual chic, but who knows if I’m actually pulling that off today
New in Nail Polish
I just ordered six new shades of polish to add to my nail polish collection and I am excited to start a new nail inspired series soon (some of these were purchased just for that reason!) But Orly has come to be one of my favorite polishes. Why you ask… well because it goes on easily and I usually only need two coats to perfect the look! (I can get away with one if I know I want to change up my color in a few days). And I know you are supposed to put on a clear coat, but I barely have patience to put on nail polish in general… so since I skip that step the polish always looks shiny anyway!
Weekend Recap: Baseball & Friends
Just wanted to do a quick post on my weekend! Went to the Twins game with my boyfriend and a couple of our good friends. It ended up being the perfect day for a baseball game with lots of sun! Although the Twins lost, we still had an amazing time! Happy Monday, I hope you have a great week!!!!! [Read more...]
