How to Get Glowing Skin

Daily Beauty Routine
It has been a LONG time since I’ve done a beauty routine post, so I decided to do an update since some of my products have changed. I have to be honest about something, as much as I love a good deal on clothing, I am much more willing to splurge on beauty products. I justify my spending on beauty products based on the fact that they are in use every day! I have had trouble skin for over 7 years now, and although I’ve come close to a perfect routine that keeps my skin fairly clear, I’ve never had naturally flawless skin. I break out easily from stress, and if I’m not breaking out, I usually have discoloration and my skin type is very oily. Finding the right products for my skin has always been a problem, but I’m always willing to try new things. Here is my current routine:
Christmas Manicure
When it comes to manicures, I try to keep it simple and I love the idea of having one nail a different color or shade on each hand, so for the holidays I went for a rich burgundy shimmer color along with a gold glitter color on my pointer fingers. What do you think? Will you be adding some glam to your nails for the holidays?

Unusual & Quick Beauty Fixes
Need a little unusual beauty advice? Sometimes things happen, so here are four beauty tips you might not know about where you can you items you probably already have!
Fashion & Beauty Pet Peeve #3
Sadly after a long enough period of time, many of my heels have experienced this aging process of a heel tip loss. Usually I don’t even notice when one is missing until I’m walking on concrete and when I do, it always happens to be when I’m out and about or at work.
New in Nail Polish
I just ordered six new shades of polish to add to my nail polish collection and I am excited to start a new nail inspired series soon (some of these were purchased just for that reason!) But Orly has come to be one of my favorite polishes. Why you ask… well because it goes on easily and I usually only need two coats to perfect the look! (I can get away with one if I know I want to change up my color in a few days). And I know you are supposed to put on a clear coat, but I barely have patience to put on nail polish in general… so since I skip that step the polish always looks shiny anyway!
Fashion & Beauty Pet Peeve #2
When you’re in a rush in the morning… there are a lot of things that can go wrong. It’s always nice though when are pleasantly surprised that your hair looks good, your make-up isn’t smudged and your shoes match. This pet peeve has happened to me before, but I usually catch it! On the days you don’t… it can lead to some serious embarrassment!
Fashion & Beauty Pet Peeves #1
So I’m starting a new series called Fashion & Beauty Pet Peeves and I just want to let you know that this is supposed to be a fun series that hopefully will generate some conversation and perhaps lead to solutions (yay!), not meant for me to just complain about this and that (although I do seem to be particularly good at that some days…) But let’s be honest… I am really fortunate in life!
If you are a lover of beauty and fashion, this might be some annoyances we have all experienced. And with that said, here it goes:
Purple Shades
Ever since I bought Urban Decay’s Naked Palette a few weeks ago, I have been infatuated with it: mixing colors and finding new ways to wear the various neutral shades in the palette. As much as I love this palette, this weekend I re-discovered my purple shades sitting at the bottom of my make-up bag. Purple eye shadow has always been one of my favorites to play with, from deep, rich shades of plum to light, neutral-like shades of lilac. The great thing about purple is that you can play it down to be appropriate for day make-up and work, or play it up for an all-out night look (who doesn’t love a plum smokey eye?!) Plus, I think purple is a shade that looks equally amazing on all eye colors. Of course, I am no make-up expert, but I have been extremely inspired by some purple eye shadow looks I’ve found on Pinterest and wanted to share them. Do you wear purple shades? If so, what’s your absolute favorite way to wear purple? [Read more...]
