Floral Blazer

Floral Blazer 9

This past weekend my older sister, her fiance and my parents were in town to take care of some wedding tasks. The wedding is taking place in downtown Minneapolis in October, so they get to travel here to get everything planned. I LOVE it because that means I don’t have to travel and I still get to see my family more this year. Win, win WIN! Anyway, to run errands such as choosing the groom’s tuxedo, taking a look at the chapel and wedding photo opportunities (and grabbing a mid afternoon beer), I thought it would be a great time to wear (and show off) my new floral blazer. I paired it with plain white t-shirt (borrowed from my boyfriend), my teal skinny jeans and mint pumps. With some jewelry accents, like my favorite Lia Sophia bracelets and this gorgeous mint chain link bracelet from Sira & Mara, everything felt just right!

Do you own a floral blazer? How would you style it? I am definitely trying to figure out new ways to wear it, but I think it will be versatile piece.

Lace Loving

This is my first time linking up to Marion’s Trend of the Month Challenge and I couldn’t be more excited about this month’s challenge: lace. I have quite a few lace pieces, mostly neutral ones, so I wanted to challenge myself to wear a lace piece I haven’t in awhile AND in a new way. I just transformed my denim dress into a shirt a few weeks ago, so I decided to transform this lace dress into a shirt as well. Of course, completely work INAPPROPRIATE as a dress. Add my favorite maxi and it was completely work appropriate. Hooray! My biggest challenge in shopping lately is buying items that I can wear both to work AND on the weekends. I didn’t buy this dress with the intention of both, but I guess I found out it has more uses!

Put a Vest on It

I wore this to work last casual Friday and it was super comfy.  I honestly was running 20 minutes late that day so I didn’t have a lot of time to decide what to wear… then my bright gingham blouse looked right at me and said “CHOOSE ME” so I did.  But something still didn’t feel right.  Too blah, too plain, I needed another layer of course and just as I was about to give up and deal with my outfit the way it was I saw my sleeves sweater vest hanging all by itself.  It had been awhile since I had worn it and I knew it would keep me warm, add another layer and be great for a Friday in the office.

Sister Style: Jean Shorts & Boots

Meet Kaitlyn. She is my little sister and best friend… and when she came to visit this weekend, I thought it would be fun to showcase some sister style.  Since we both love themes, we decided to do a post showing our own unique styles and how we would style an outfit.  In this case the outfit was jean shorts and booties. She paired hers with a striped tee and large sparkly necklace and I paired mine with a flowy tank and vintage sequin cardigan.  It was so fun to take pictures of her and she is such a natural with the camera! Her natural beauty came through!  It was so great seeing her and she was so excited to meet our puppy and is officially Aunt Katie! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and enjoy this sister post!

Weekend Updates

Hi everyone, I hope you had a great weekend! Mine was SO fun, got to meet one of my good friend’s fiance and well yesterday was just such a fun day playing with Emma. She seems to like her new home and is such a sweetheart! I also spent yesterday morning finishing up another DIY, which should have been finished a long time ago! I finished my earrings with a touch of neon yellow in the middle and decided to do the same to an old necklace I haven’t worn in years and LOVED the result so much that I am wearing it today (and you should see it in an outfit post later this week!)

Happy Monday!

Colorful Statements

Here is a look into my statement necklace collection. I have recently added this yellow J.Crew knock off from Hong Kong, this floral Lia Sophia necklace  and blue family Lia Sophia Necklace to my colorful statement necklace collection.  I am having a ton of fun layering these for different looks and incorporating so much color and emphasis with different necklaces!

Sparkle & Shine

I wore this outfit to my first Lia Sophia party, which was an absolute blast (and I bought WAY to much jewelry and drank too many margaritas!) My brooch is from Lia Sophia (seen here) and pinned on my grandmother’s vintage necklace, it went so perfectly with my pleated maxi! I recently decided why can’t I wear a little sparkle and shine to work as well?! I certainly would probably add a denim blazer or white blazer for some more sophistication, but since I don’t meet with clients and sit at my desk all day, day time sparkles with a classic pair of pumps seems appropriate to me!

Lady in Coral

So I must admit something: I am a liar.  The lying wasn’t on purpose, but it seems that my memories are getting confused these days.  My memories of great travels and wonderful shopping experiences, that is.  If you read my post about Napa Valley and some of the amazing vintage boutiques there, I told you that the vintage dress I am wearing in these photos was a beautiful piece purchased from Betty’s Boutique in California.  Well I am sorry to say it’s not… I only own two dresses from Betty’s Boutique.  A polka dot one (seen here) and a floral Hawaiian print one I’m sure I’ll be posting sometime this summer.

Brighten Your Day

My work uniform during spring and summer almost always includes a pencil skirt and pumps and when I need a little something extra, I go for a bright patterned shirt like this one that I recently found at H&M.  Layering a couple necklaces and adding a bracelet, it is an easy, comfy ensemble that wears well throughout the work day! Happy Friday Eve everyone!
