I was so excited when I found out the next Everybody Everywear was going to be Nautical themed. I adore anything nautical themed, from the colors to the stripes and the anchors and lifesavers! This shirt was actually bought for a party in the UK for my best friend’s boyfriend (now husband!) that was sailor themed. Three of us girls bought matching shirts and had such a fun time celebrating! The white blazer and blue denim gave this fun shirt a more polished look, but I also had to add my fun red bow bag that also came from the UK!
Ever since my personalized office inspiration post, I have been working on cleaning, organizing and redecorating my cubicle space (you can see my new Eiffel Tower lamp and red and purple candles above). I wanted to do some bright, fun colors and add a lot of floral decor that I know I wouldn’t be able to get away with at home (I’m still surprised I didn’t talk my boyfriend into a leopard print or hot pink decorated apartment!) Anywho, one of my favorite color combinations that I know I will never be able to do at home (except for maybe in my closet) is red and purple. So these were the colors I went for when ordering new pieces for my cubicle and giving my home away from home a little more life! These are just some snap shots from my phone… once I completely finish decorating, I am hoping to take some better photos!
These are a few of my favorite things… well my favorite animal print and color combinations! I love adding pops of color to outfits as well as pops of animal prints, so when I mix the two together, these are my go-tos! I made a few outfits showing how I incorporate leopard & red, zebra & yellow and snakeskin & blue. Color blocking is not a look I wear too often, but I absolutely love it! I actually own a few pieces that have “color blocking” incorporated right into them with different sized stripes and bright colors (does that make me fashion lazy? yeah probably does). A bright pink with a bright red is so vibrant and gorgeous, whether the top is red or the skirt is red and vice versa, I just love the look.
For the Everybody, Everywear assignment, I paired a short-sleeve silk pink blouse with a red mini pencil skirt… I often wear the pink blouse with work ensembles and typically only wear the red skirt during the summer. Since these two colors are such a statement, I paired the outfit with a white pair of pumps and pearl necklace and stud earrings. I feel so girly in this ensemble, which makes it perfect for Valentine’s Day. And with that said… I love theming for the holidays and already had a Valentine’s work ensemble and date night outfit picked out before I knew what the EBEW challenge would be, so tomorrow I will be wearing my official Valentine’s Day inspired outfit (which may or may not involve some hearts)!
When I found out my second Bloggers Do It Better challenge was to wear red, I immediately thought of my Kenneth Cole shirt dress, a piece in my closet that has been worn for a nice dinner out during the summer as well as paired with boots for Christmas. As much as I adore the color red, I only have a few pieces in my wardrobe, so I knew for sure I wanted to wear this dress. The next question was how to style it… do belt it? What kind of shoes and accessories should I go for? Monochromatic with the color red… dare I? I dare to!
So this is my first Bloggers Do It Better post and I am so excited about it! The assignment was sequins and I thought it would be easy… I am always drawn to sparkly and shiny pieces but I didn’t think I actually owned that many. Going through my closet I found sequin tank tops, shirts, skirts, dresses, shoes, clutches and pieces embellished with sequins. I didn’t know what to do! Then I found my red sequin top that I bought from Peacocks in the UK when I studied abroad at one semester when I was in college at Swansea University in Swansea, Wales. I remember buying it for a certain event, but besides that and a couple other times, I haven’t worn it much. I did wear it over Christmas break, but just to run errands before church on Christmas Eve…. so when I saw it hanging in my closet I knew I wanted to work around this piece. Since I knew the day would be Friday, I decided to glam it up for a night out. Although I would never wear this exact outfit to work (mostly due to the length and tightness of the skirt), I have casual Fridays at work, so I could wear the shirt and blazer with jeans to work and then change into the skirt and pumps for the night! I decided to pair the sequins with a pattern, going for my striped mini and throwing on a blazer (my favorite go-to to make something more dressy). With a few more accessories, including my sparkly black pumps, I was happy with the result! Happy Friday everyone, I hope the first week of the New Year treated you well!
