Blazer and Jeans: Dressed Up

blazer and jeans dressed up

When it was cold on Mother’s Day, instead of opting for my sleeveless, knee-length dress, I decided to throw on my orange blouse from 10DollarMall.com and once again paired it with my white blazer and skinny jeans. On Monday, I shared my blazer and jeans casual style, and today I’m sharing how I dress them up. I added a teal necklace for some interest and was ready to celebrate Mother’s Day! There are tons of other ways to dress up jeans and blazer, but adding a statement necklace, some fancy bracelets and a pair of heels is the simplest way to do it! Thank you to my little sister for snapping these photos of me on her camera!

Blazer and Jeans: Casual Style

blazer-and-jeans-8-682x1024

Ever heard the expression “Keep it simple stupid”…? Well this is my new saying for myself on casual Fridays. Sometimes I over think outfits for Fridays, so this week I made it as simple as possible! T-shirt, blazer, skinny jeans, necklace and booties (it was kind of chilly out… I’m really wanting to pull out my gladiators here soon!) And well, I loved the result. And my Sam Edelman booties are everything in this outfit. Just enough to make it interesting and fun! Also, the perfect outfit to drive home in. Since it was cold yesterday on Mother’s Day, I actually ended up wearing this white blazer and jeans for church and hanging out. So I guess it worked out to show you how to style a blazer and jeans casually and later this week I can show you how to dress up a blazer and jeans! Happy  Monday!

JustFab Party

justfab4

Yesterday I threw a JustFab party to introduce some of my friends to the brand that I have been obsessed with over the past year. When I first saw an ad for JustFab, I couldn’t resist two pairs of cute shoes for $39.95 (at that time when you signed up you got buy one get one free!) So I signed up, shared how excited I was about it on the blog, and ever since I have rarely skipped a month of purchasing something because I love all of the new styles they come out with on a monthly basis. Anyone, fashion bloggers and non-fashion bloggers included, can be a brand ambassador for JustFab, so if you are interested, let me know. I’ll makes sure that you get in touch with the right person! For the party, I kept it simple. Just had some cheese, fruit and mimosas. I displayed all of my purchases from the past and wore my absolute favorite pair of shoes from there so far: my mint pumps (see other looks here and here). Oh and my favorite handbag, the Hepburn, which unfortunately is still sold out (I am on the wait list for the black version of this bag). Aside from the extremely crappy weather, I had a great weekend and I hope you did too. Happy Monday!

Plaid

I’ve been layering up with the recent cold weather (and this jacket is NOT enough to be outside more than 5 minutes) and decided to wear an all black ensemble this past Saturday with a touch of color in my plaid short-sleeve jacket. I haven’t worn my black skinnies in ages, even though they are a favorite pair of mine that used to wear out all the time. And yes, socks with my wedged booties were a must this weekend (keeping the feet warm and toasty).

Hope you have a fabulous Monday!

Neon + Leopard

Hope everyone had an amazing weekend! Got to visit my sister this weekend and remember what it was like to live in the dorms (she lives in the same dorm I did my freshman year!) and we got to explore campus a bit.  Did some Christmas shopping (and some shopping for ourselves of course ;) ) and just had a lot of fun! I transitioned this outfit to a going out look but switching out the sweater for a new lace peplum top I found for $5. SCORE! Happy Monday!

Sorry I haven’t been doing many budget posts since July… mostly this was because I didn’t really set a budget for each month. I didn’t want myself to purchase anything clothing related until I had completely cleaned out my closet.  But let’s be honest, I knew from the start that wouldn’t happen!  So here is what I got this month… unplanned but I feel pretty good about it. Technically the “bag” I got is an iPad case, but it will actually fit all my going out necessities and day-time necessities! What did you buy this month?

I am linking up with Franishh for her Budgeting Bloggers series… be sure to check it out!

Put a Vest on It

I wore this to work last casual Friday and it was super comfy.  I honestly was running 20 minutes late that day so I didn’t have a lot of time to decide what to wear… then my bright gingham blouse looked right at me and said “CHOOSE ME” so I did.  But something still didn’t feel right.  Too blah, too plain, I needed another layer of course and just as I was about to give up and deal with my outfit the way it was I saw my sleeves sweater vest hanging all by itself.  It had been awhile since I had worn it and I knew it would keep me warm, add another layer and be great for a Friday in the office.

You’re the Apple of My Eye

I had an amazing weekend… Friday night and Saturday were a bit “lame” as I stayed in and cleaned to prepare for our 2nd annual Halloween party.  I spent 5 hours in the kitchen/pantry area alone.  Yeah there was some dusting and re-organizing to be done that took me quite awhile.  Anyway, we headed to the apple orchard on Sunday and I got to pick two bags of apples (and completely acted like a kid again… the bf was glad we didn’t bring the pup along because he felt like he was taking care of me… haha).  Looks like I’ll be making apple pie this week and eating apples everyday for breakfast and a snack! I can’t wait though, this week is going to rock! Tuesday is the Halloween Pretty Little Liars episode, I am taking Friday off to bake for our party on Saturday, going out Friday night as in my first costume and Saturday is our party! The bf, the pup and I will be coordinating on our costume that I’m pretty thrilled to show you all next week! What are your plans for the week?! Looking forward to any upcoming Halloween events? Have a great one!

Fall Style for Everyday

I just wanted to share some of my favorite types of outfits to wear for all different occasions this time of year, showing ways to layer and be all cozy and warm, regardless of what you’re doing! Happy Friday Eve… we are almost there!!!!!!

Grabbing Coffee with a Friend: Whether during the week or on the weekend, grabbing coffee or lunch with a friend (I am a fan of pumpkin spice lattes!) you want to look cute but not over the top. A pair of colored skinnies or dark skinnies, a sheer blouse and a vest, like this faux fur vest, gives you layers to help keep warm! Also, I love a little heel when I know I’m going to be inside at a restaurant or coffee shop (and not walking around a ton), so I’m digging this cap-toe, heeled oxford! Otherwise, flat or heeled boots do the trick too! Still cold? Add a scarf for some extra warmth (this is true for any outfit in the cooler weather!)

Going to an Apple Orchard or Pumpkin Patch: Now it’s time to pull our your best warm outfit! Layer a knit scarf over a plaid button up blouse (layered over a cami or plain tee), skinny jeans and tall, comfy flat boots work perfectly.  Stay warm while still looking chic and by adding a pattern (like plaid) with some texture (a heavy knit scarf) gives your outfit some extra pizzazz! Wearing a warm cardigan or loose knit is a much better idea than a blazer or collared button-up which can be constricting when you are trying to move around a lot.  You can also go for a dress with tights and a looser-fit cardigan and still be completely comfy and chic for this type of outing.

Date Night: Sometimes it is just as sexy and fun to throw on a pair of skinnies and a cute button-up and pair of boots for date night, but when you are going to a nice dinner or something, it is also nice to have some dress options that are still keeping you warm.  One of the easiest things to do is throw a blouse or sweater on over a dress for extra layering and warmth.  A cute pair of knee highs and fun pair of booties will keep you warm while keeping your cute date look.  My bf doesn’t necessarily love my bright red lipsticks, but hey I do, so if you want to make it more vibrant and fun, add a bright lip! A nude gloss and smoky eye also does the trick.

Work: Good old work… ! Seems to be the hardest to dress for (for multiple reasons) but especially for temperature and functionality (especially when it starts to snow… if you live in an area where it snows you know what I’m talking about). In the summer when it is 90 degrees out, I am still layering because the air conditioner is always super cold.  It seems though that during the fall and winter, even if the heat is on, I still get cold so dressing for the office to stay warm (without being hot) is the goal!  I love to wear blazers or tweed jackets over a collared button-up or ruffle blouse along with a bright, metallic or fun-detailed pencil skirt.  Add a pair of tall heeled boots (with tights) and you are pretty much set.  Statement jewelry is the easiest way for me to add something extra and more fun to an office outfit, and for the cooler temperatures I think a faux fur scarf helps keep you looking professional and dressed up as well as warm!  I have two faux fur scarves, one in a brownish color and one that is gray/black so that I have options to work with.  More dressy scarves work as well. Still cold at the office? Try fingerless gloves (you can still type just fine and use your cell phone!) Find a cute bow pair here!

What are your fall go-to outfits for different occasions?!
