Snakes on a Jacket

Okay so there really aren’t snakes on this jacket… just snakeskin print. I don’t know, sometimes I just think I’m clever and I laugh like it’s funny. This happens a lot at home and the bf doesn’t even know where it came from, what I’m thinking or what I mean by it. It comes from my mother because I act the same way my bf does when she says things sometimes and I usually end up saying “Oh Mom” but I love her, she’s the best!

Anyway, enough blabbing… so I never thought 1) that I would ever end up wearing this jacket to the office… I thought it might be a bit too crazy for the environment I work in and 2) I never thought I would wear a denim dress to the office thinking it is just too casual. Well, this outfit just goes to show that you should always push yourself to try more and be more creative with your wardrobe. If it is straight out not appropriate, it just isn’t appropriate, but I think the blend of a plain casual denim dress and the dressy features of my snakeskin jacket magically balance each other out. Let’s just say I couldn’t resist a double dose of snakeskin and added one of my go-to work shoes to this outfit, as well as an edgy necklace, a buckle belt and watch to keep the balance between work appropriate and fun/crazy. I got a compliment from a co-worker so I’m going to call it a success!

LGD & Neon

There is nothing better than throwing on a sheath dress and a belt in the morning to feel completely put together in minimal time. After our first night with the puppy, I wasn’t very awake yesterday morning, but I knew I wanted to wear my new neon necklace! It isn’t a very big necklace, but for work it gives just the right amount of color to an otherwise simple outfit. The other perk… my snakeskin pumps. A little neon, a little pattern and a little gray dress! P.S. My boyfriend picked out this dress for me when we were shopping once…. uhhh score! It is one of my favorite work dresses and can literally be paired with anything. Oh… and I LOVE wearing gray in the fall and winter, so perfect dress to transition into these months!

Snakeskin: The Beginning

There was a time where I had no interest in animal prints. When I studied abroad in England and Wales, I saw animal print in whole new light and decided to embrace it! This snakeskin clutch from H&M was actually my first snakeskin purchase when I was studying abroad in London. With all the hype surrounding packing the appropriate clothes and things to study aborad, I completely forgot to bring a going out purse! From there my love grew and grew…. and this pair of Steve Madden snakeskin heels was my second snakeskin investment. I have worn them out so much that they are starting to show a lot of wear, but they are still my favorite snakeskin piece!!!!!!!

Snakeskin Work Wear

Today my focus is snakeskin in the workplace. Working in a more conservative environment, the animal prints must remain minimal. These pumps are the perfect touch to any work ensemble and are just the right touch for weekend wear with black skinny jeans.

Snakeskin Details

With the warmer temperatures, my straw fedora and black strap wedges have been the first items to make an appearance from my spring & summer wardrobe. Today’s snakeskin is all in the details… a vintage gold shimmer snakeskin scarf and a sequin, snakeskin clutch. With a pair of boyfriend jeans and a sheer nude blouse, this outfit’s staples could easily become my spring uniform for casual Fridays and the weekends.

I love adding pops of color to outfits as well as pops of animal prints, so when I mix the two together, these are my go-tos!
