Coral & Starfish

coral and starfish

I am seriously obsessed with the combination of coral and teal or coral and mint. I just think it is fun, vibrant and works really well together. Anytime I mix and match colors at the office, I always want to ensure it is minimal so I don’t freak my co-workers out. Well, I’m pretty sure I freaked them out anyway. Oh well! At least I was having fun, being productive and feeling good about life. Also, how CUTE is this starfish bracelet from InPink? I absolutely love it! It is definitely going to be my go-to accessory this summer and anytime I’m wearing bright colors, stripes or anything nautical-inspired, you better believe this bracelet will be a part of my arm party. InPink is graciously offering readers 30% off all jewelry on the site with code: RACHEL30 through 6/2/2013!

Now for Blog Every Day in May, my most embarrassing moments. Trust me, I have A TON of them. I mean my middle name should just be embarrassment. But the most memorable ones deal with tripping. Apparently my last name in German means “clumsy”… I have no idea if this is true, but I’ll take it because my family is very clumsy! So in high school I had a huge crush on my best friend’s older brother (huge no-no, right? meh, he was beautiful!) and while passing him leaving the lunchroom, he was coming down the stairs and I was going up. I started to say hello as I completely wiped out and tripped going UP the stairs. SO embarrassing. Next tripping embarrassment: I was in my senior year of college, and although this might have involved a couple, a few, maybe more beers, I fell down a bar’s stairs in front of a completely full bar. It was one of those moments where everyone goes “OHHHHH” (you know like when someone drops their tray in the lunchroom) and then I stood back up and said “HEYYYYY I’m okay!”… and proceeded to eat two hot dogs. Hey they were always free at this bar and I thought it would help with the whole falling down thing. Classy, I know. Happy Friday everyone!

Sister Style: Jean Shorts & Boots

Meet Kaitlyn. She is my little sister and best friend… and when she came to visit this weekend, I thought it would be fun to showcase some sister style.  Since we both love themes, we decided to do a post showing our own unique styles and how we would style an outfit.  In this case the outfit was jean shorts and booties. She paired hers with a striped tee and large sparkly necklace and I paired mine with a flowy tank and vintage sequin cardigan.  It was so fun to take pictures of her and she is such a natural with the camera! Her natural beauty came through!  It was so great seeing her and she was so excited to meet our puppy and is officially Aunt Katie! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and enjoy this sister post!

A Month of Outfits: July

Which outfit is your favorite?!* Just realized I was liking the color yellow for my accessories :) What was your July outfit go-to?

Fruit Stripes

Something about this outfit reminds me of Fruit Stripes gum… the stripes part is obvious but I think it is the colorful packaging that completes that idea in my head. Anyway, wore this on Sunday to watch the Bachelorette finale with my friend! There is nothing better than my yellow scarf to add some color to an otherwise simple outfit. I have worn this scarf on many occassions and it is one in my collection that works for all seasons.

Summer Go-Tos

The summer heat hasn’t been letting down here this past week… so I have been going to some of my go-tos for summer heat and humidity: a breezy dress, hair pushed back with a headband/headwrap, and a pair of flats or strappy sandals! I wore this on Saturday to run some errands (like go pick out puppy supplies, yay!) and to get the apartment organized (aka puppy-proofed… all shoes are up high in my closet now!) And there is nothing better than a good pop of pink with my “Punchy” Beauty Rush lip gloss from Victoria Secret to add just the right amount of color! I hope you all had a great weekend! What are your go-tos for summer heat?

P.S. We are undergoing some blog construction (if you couldn’t tell)… please bear with us and our changes over the next month!

Here are some other amazing summer go-tos and fashionable finds from Kaleidoscope Fashion.  There are some amazing pieces, that fit in perfectly for summer, a vacation or in warmer weather climates!

  • First off, who doesn’t need a sassy LLD (little leopard dress)! Just as functional as a little black dress, but more fun. This perfectly transitions into colder seasons as well with a black blazer and pair of pumps (add red pumps for a particularly fun outfit).
  • A little white, summery dress is also necessary.  Find one with some embellishments and all you need to throw on is a pair of sandals.  Summer or vacation chic with little to no effort!
  • One piece black swimsuits are no longer meant for covering up, but showing off.  They are so chic and will make you stand out in the crowd at the pool or the beach.
  • A light-weight black dress with some fun details can be a great cover-up for your swimwear and can double as a cute dress to go out with friends or for date night. Add some gold wedges and earrings to really make a statement.
  • White wedges are classy and can be paired with any outfit during the warmer months! Perfect at the office or on the weekends, wedges are comfy while still looking chic.
  • Tortoise sunnies are a classic… and a must. They liven any outfit when the sun is beating down! Try a wide rim pair to ensure great coverage and a fashionable look.
  • Bermuda shorts are ideal for any situation in the sun… they are a classic look that look amazing paired with a breezy light-weight colorful blouse and embellished sandals. They help you keep cool for the farmer’s market, summer fairs or outdoor concerts!
  • Embellished sandals are the next step up from flip flops, giving your feet complete freedom while maintaining a perfectly stylish outfit.  Try a pair in a neutral such as white or a metallic shade for some extra pizzazz!
What are your favorite summer pieces and go-tos for warmer weather?!

Friday’s Fancies: My Travel Outfit

So I’m linking up to Friday’s Fancies today, which was a theme of your perfect traveling outfit in a dream vacation setting.  While since I was just in my dream vacation in Europe, I decided to share an outfit I wore one day in Paris, but a day we didn’t take any photos.  Layering a striped shirt over my maxi and throwing over a chambray gave my dress and tee a whole different feel from some of the other outfits I wore while I was there. Paired with my favorite strappy flat sandals, it was a comfy outfit while in Paris!
