It’s official… my little sister starts college today! I am so excited for her (and very jealous haha) and hope she has a wonderful first day at Iowa State. This weekend I went back to some of the classic pieces I would wear to class end of August and throughout fall. These included flouncy skirts, casual tops and a scarf, statement necklace or hair pieces, and of course a pair of sunglasses! Simple, smart pieces always made it easy for me to get ready in the morning. Anyway, clearly not wearing these pieces to class anymore, but that doesn’t mean I can’t wear them on the weekends! Yesterday I paired my mustard yellow casual top with my red flouncy skirt, a leo print scarf and wedges for an easy-going Sunday. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
A Thousand Small Strides

This weekend was my little sister’s high school graduation and open house. As I sat down at her commencement, I wasn’t overly excited to sit through close to 400 names being called off, but of course I was excited to be there to support her and her accomplishments. As I sat there and listened to her classmate’s (and one of her closest friends) commencement speech called “A Thousand Small Strides” I realized that this was hitting closer to home than the commencement speech I sat through for my own graduation. A great message and important to remember that life, dreams and goals are accomplished one stride at a time, not in one big step. Even if the end goal seems so distance, how much harder is it to make that next stride? There have been many ups and downs since I graduated high school and even since I graduated college, and it is nice to remember that even though it is hard to not focus on the future, living in the present and taking one small stride can lead to the ultimate goals. After a refreshing weekend with my family and boyfriend, I am excited for an amazing summer and dreaming big!
Cinco de Mayo!
Happy Cinco de Mayo! Tribal/Aztec prints are perfect for the celebration, so I’ve rounded up some of my favorite tribal inspired pieces for under $50! Hope you are all having an amazing weekend, and if you are celebrating Cinco de Mayo, Cheers! Hope it is wonderful!!!!!!
Snakeskin Details
With the warmer temperatures, my straw fedora and black strap wedges have been the first items to make an appearance from my spring & summer wardrobe. Today’s snakeskin is all in the details… a vintage gold shimmer snakeskin scarf and a sequin, snakeskin clutch. With a pair of boyfriend jeans and a sheer nude blouse, this outfit’s staples could easily become my spring uniform for casual Fridays and the weekends.
Spring Wishlist!
Neon Details: Part 1
So today I wanted to share three outfits incorporating neon yellow… neon yellow is by far my favorite of the neons as you will be able to tell in these photos… I have a few other neons in my closet, but these yellow pieces (and a neon yellow scarf I have) are my favorites. I am calling this post Neon Details: Part 1 because this is my take on more winterized outfits as far as the colors and the layering/tights. Neon Details: Part 2 will be coming sometime this spring when I can step outside with bare legs and smile, rather than run back inside as soon as possible because of the chilly weather.
