How to Get Glowing Skin

I have been asked a couple times about how my skin looks so glowing, etc. so I thought I’d put together a post about some of the products I use outside of my everyday beauty routine. I don’t have a ton of secrets, just a few things I use on a regular basis to give me a glow.

I am always very curious when it comes to beauty products, so about 6 months ago I ordered the full sample of Cindy Crawford’s Meaningful Beauty line. I actually really liked it all, but I particularly love the day lotion, which I use every morning, and the glowing serum. The Meaningful Beauty by Cindy Crawford GLOWING SERUM is a product I use any time I feel like I want that extra glow. I wouldn’t typically use it on a week day before work, unless if I’m looking really under the weather (Too much at happy hour the night before, I mean what that never happens). It just takes a small pump, and you just apply it on your face after washing and before your morning moisturizer. I love it and I really do feel like it just gives me an extra glow! I have seen some bad reviews out there on this product though, which is weird since I love it so much. Some people have said it makes their face red or irritable, so please read up before purchasing this product. I have REALLY sensitive skin and have never had an issue, so who knows. I have also heard great things about the Nude Skincare Progenius Facial Treatment Oil

Kate Somerville Somerville Tanning Towelettes are another product I’ve heard great things about, even though I haven’t personally used them. I instead have taken a little bit of my Arbonne Makeup Primerand mixed it with Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs to create a self tanning product. It works pretty well! I have even used the Jergens Natural Glow lotion on my face, even though it really isn’t supposed to be a face lotion. I break out really easily, but it has never caused me to break out, so I would say you might be safe in trying that too.

I’m not going to lie, I was very afraid of cream-based blushes at first. I’m not sure why, I guess I was just really happy with my powder blushes. I bought Maybelline New York Dream Bouncy Blush in Peach Satin and started to use it on a more regular basis. Using cream-based blush helps give me that overall glow AND it is best to use during those hot summer days! It helps keep your make up in place for outdoor events, flea markets and running errands, preventing the look of “your face is melting off.”  I haven’t tried any other cream-based blushes before, but I really do like the Maybelline New York Dream Bouncy Blush I have.

HIGHLIGHT with Sun Beam! I’ve said it before in a beauty post and I’ll say it again… this stuff is amazing. It works well to highlight around the eyes or on the cheekbone, but doesn’t look unnatural at all. You only need to apply a little bit, so it lasts forever!

Okay, my biggest “secret”… I put that in quotes because I don’t think Jergens Natural Glow Firming Moisturizer is a secret anymore. I LOVE this stuff and I use it religiously! Every other day I apply this everywhere and let it completely soak in. Yes that means standing in the bathroom naked for 15-20 minutes (sometimes in my bedroom). I always get great results from this and it never looks orange. To make sure it really gives you a glow though, you have to continuously use it and make sure you let it set before putting on clothing. It might be boring to stand there for that long, but read a magazine, start doing your hair, etc.  It is worth the wait and effort!

Do you have any other tips for getting that glow or more tips for getting that glow all over the body?! Please share below!

I am really bad about self tanner. I just get all weird about how to put it on my back to make it even and then abort the mission altogether. As far as my face goes I have very oily skin so I try to stay away from “glowy” products but I do love cream blushes!

I have always thought that your skin is lovely, particularly since you started rocking the tan. It’s nice to know your secret so I can steal it!

I’ve never tried cream blush, I don’t tend to wear a lot of blush because of my rosacea, but I wonder if a cream blush would be a good option. I might have to look into that!

I was worried about cream-based blush because I have oily/acne-prone skin, but it works well on my skin! The Maybelline version is pretty reasonably priced, so definitely give it a try!

I use the Jergen’s firming lotion everyday – LOVE it! And I was always really curious about the Meaningful Beauty line as well, guess I’ll have to try it now that I know you like it.

I’m all for self-tanners! My dad suffered through Melanoma and it was terrible to deal with. I have to be extra careful as well since it’s genetic, so I try to rely on self-tanners instead of the real sun. I use Loreal Sublime Gel and it works amazingly! And for the “glow” I just moisturize like a crazy person! I get a lot of compliments on my skin, so that’s one of my secrets!

Oh no, I’m so sorry to hear your family had to go through that. My dad has very sensitive skin and that has passed onto us. Although I love soaking up the sun WITH LOTS OF SPF, it just isn’t worth the dangers. Self tanner is the best, whoop whoop! Always, thanks for sharing! I used to be so hesitant to moisturize all the time since I have oily/acne prone skin, but it is still so important no matter what skin type you have!

I am super pale now so I really need to pick up some of that Jergen’s stuff. Nothing beats a real tan though!

I had a few bad self-tanning incidents in the past, but it’s amazing how much better self-tanner formulas are now. I’m a big fan of those towelettes. A little expensive, but worth it!

I’ve always wondered about the Meaningful Beauty line and I may have to try it now. Great post and my favorite tip for glowing skin? Juicing! Seriously I have dull, acne prone skin, but when I juice my skin is naturally glowy.

VERY GOOD POINT! I meant to say something about just being healthy in general. I have never really juiced before, but I have been meaning to try it. I love all of those things anyway, so all together in juice form, yes please!

Oh also, I LOVE the meaningful beauty line… I’m not a huge fan of their selling techniques (like bare minerals, proactiv, etc.) but it leaves my skin looking healthy!

Meg, you are welcome! These definitely help, but of course the source of beautiful, glowing skin comes from being healthy! So eating right, working out and drinking lots of water! These will just help amplify the results 🙂 Thank you for your comment!

I think I just need to walk into Sephora and yell “HELP!” I have no idea what to do to make myself look flawless! Some of this helps, like the cream blush, but I have no idea what to do with highlighter!

I’ve always wanted to use a self tanner of some sort but I’m always so scared that it’ll rub off on my clothes. I’ve heard great things about the jergens natural glow, so maybe I will try that.

Those Kate Sommerville towelettes are amazing for your face! My go to self tanner for my whole body is St. Tropez – it’s unlike any other tanning product I’ve ever used and I wouldn’t trade it for the world! It’s not streaky, it’s super easy to put on because it’s a mousse and you instantly look like you have a natural tan!
