Graduation Investments: Shopping 101

Career•Shopping

Since my older sister just graduated with her masters and some of my friends just graduated college, I decided it would be the perfect time to talk about some investment pieces straight out of college (or grad school). I was lost at first when I graduated because although I had a suit and collared shirts for interviewing, a lot of my wardrobe was still extremely casual. I have learned to incorporate a lot of those pieces into a more professional wardrobe, but there were still some pieces I needed to add to ensure that I was looking professional everyday....

Lilac Jungle

Career•Outfits

Isn’t it funny how somedays you have a lot to say about your outfit because the pieces tell a story and other days it is literally just: this is what I threw on and I liked the way it looked? Well I hope you don’t mind that I want to share a lot of information about my experience with my clothes (like yesterday’s coral dress post) and somedays it really is pretty simple.  One of my goals for the new year to help spice up what I wear to work is to mix prints and colors together.

Red, White & Blue Coming Through!

Career•Outfits

So maybe it is a little bit early for nautical inspired work wear, but who doesn’t love a good red, white and blue pairing? I bought this openwork sweater from Forever 21 just a couple weeks ago and when I was hanging it in my closet, I saw my light blue work blouse.  Instantly I knew how I was going to wear this new piece to work! I also know that the taupe color will be extremely versatile for me whether I wear it to work again layered over a blouse or for fun, casual looks! Happy Wednesday! Don’t...

Fashion Dilemma

Career•Outfits

When it comes to work wear during the transition from winter to spring, I seem to have my own fashion transition with a shift from skirts to pants.  This usually happens because I get sick and tired of wearing tights. And I know a lot of fashionistas hate wearing tights, but I really do love wearing tights… so when I get to this point I am so ready for bare legs.  Although the weather has been significantly warmer lately, I’m still not sure that it is “bare legs season” yet in Minneapolis.

Red & Purple Office

Career•Interior Design

Ever since my personalized office inspiration post, I have been working on cleaning, organizing and redecorating my cubicle space (you can see my new Eiffel Tower lamp and red and purple candles above).  I wanted to do some bright, fun colors and add a lot of floral decor that I know I wouldn’t be able to get away with at home (I’m still surprised I didn’t talk my boyfriend into a leopard print or hot pink decorated apartment!) Anywho, one of my favorite color combinations that I know I will never be able to do at home (except for maybe in my closet) is...

Personalized Office Space

Career

Most of my career posts have been pretty serious (of course jobs/careers are a serious subject), but I wanted to do something a little more fun that is still important to stay motivated throughout the day: creating a personalized office environment.   The important key to this is making it about you, and considering what is a good balance between fun/distraction and how to keep yourself motivated through your office space setup. Here are some of the ways I created my own personal work space:

Office Beauty Necessities

Beauty

There are so many beauty product choices out there and it’s hard enough to choose what to have on hand at home, without overwhelming your bathroom and storage space with cosmetics, (my bathroom is as full as it can be!) so when it comes to the office, knowing not only WHAT products to have on hand at all time, but WHICH products is vital. Here are some of the products I keep on hand while I’m at the office:

What’s in a Job Title?

Career

I started a new position with an engineering company back in August as their official marketing copywriter. Since starting the position, I’ve learned that they have not had an official copywriter or editor in their marketing department for over five years, and my job is not only to continue generating new content for promotional materials and for the website, but to learn the company’s style and create one voice. This job truly encapsulates all of the things I love and want in a career… writing, editing, collaborating with others in marketing, sales and engineering, learning about how our products...
