The Girl in the Pink Scarf

pink scarf, chambray top, black skirt

I’m still struggling with work outfits… which is really silly considering I can basically wear what I want. I think the issue is that I started off at a job where I was required to be wearing a suit every day, or pretty close. Then I went to a business casual environment, but still got pretty dressed up. Now, it is casual, but can really be whatever I want, but I still get confused. I have yet to wear heels, but have worn wedges a couple times, I would just feel silly being one of the only ones in heels. But then again, who cares? Right? Anyway, I swear I’m going somewhere with this.

Although this outfit isn’t necessarily anything special, I love it because I feel like for me it is a good mix of casual and just a little bit of dressy. I have never been a wear jeans every day type of person. I wore dresses and skirts in high school and college, so trying to wear jeans every day just isn’t for me. But put the denim on top, and add a swingy little black skirt on the bottom? Yes, totally me. Add a pink scarf with some tassels, and overall I feel like it adds just the right touch. So yesterday, I was the the girl in the pink scarf. I recently just watched Confessions of a Shopaholic, which is where this post title came from – also I’m so glad I don’t have to freeze my credit cards to keep myself from shopping (or do I)? Stay tuned to find out in my August budget post on Friday! In other news, these Karen Walker sunglasses are currently being borrowed from DITTO through their Endless Program – that means rent your favorite designer sunglasses for just $19 a month! You can sign up here to get your first rental month for free!

And FINALLY, it’s Emma! She hasn’t been in one of my posts in forever, so she tagged along (and had about 10 dogs walk by us while taking photos, she was very distracted and wanted to make friends)! And’s its National Dog Day, had no idea. Love the way things work out sometimes. I should re-title my post to National Dog Day or something? There are so many “national” days now they are hard to keep up with!

Guide to Hottest Summer Shorts 2013

With summer now well upon us, shorts are an essential wardrobe accessory every woman needs. Showing off your luscious pins, the right shorts will look fantastic and boost your confidence. There are several trends to watch out for in summer 2013. If you want to stay fashionable and sexy this season, think outside the box!

Denim shorts

Denim shorts are extremely popular this season and this western style look is especially big amongst celebrities across the world. If you want to stay on trend, wear denim shorts with a white shirt or your classic t-shirt and ankle boots. You might even see the occasional double denim on the streets.

High-waisted shorts

Low-rise is so last season! High-waisted shorts are the hottest trend for summer 2013. For a stylish, elegant look, go for tighter shorts. For a more casual and comfortable look, choose free-flowing and breathable fabric shorts.

One of the most unique shorts trends for 2013 is the skort. This shorts and skirt combination creates a really interesting style. The skirt is incomplete and leaves a gap in the middle where the shorts take over. This look is straight off the catwalk, so you’ll be ahead of the rest if you jump on this bandwagon quickly.

Contrasting colour shorts

While a lot of colours are fashionable this season, contrasting coloured shorts are particularly on trend. The two-tone effect is eye-catching and flattering. Black and white is definitely one of the most popular options as monochrome is a big hit for 2013.

 Semi-transparent shorts

Another new trend that designers have focused on this summer is translucent and semi-translucent materials. Shorts created with see-through fabric are sexy and daring. They’re ideal for summer nights out on the town, so if you like to really stand out then this is the trend to follow.

Printed shorts

If you are a fan of printed designs, animal and abstract style shorts are what you should be focusing on right now. Animal prints, including reptile designs are very popular at the moment. Contrasting coloured animal print shorts are the most on-trend designs available.

Remember, while you want to stay on trend, be sure the trend actually suits you! Experiment with the different trends of summer 2013 and see which one best fits your look with a wide variety all to be found at
