Birthday Drinks

Outfits•Uncategorized

So here is just a peek at what I wore on my birthday (this is the “night” look), where I simply changed from a pencil skirt and opaque black tights into black denim.  Unfortunately, we didn’t get any photos last night, so here is my best representation of my outfit! Since I am wearing a dress for my masquerade party tomorrow I wanted to have drinks in something a bit more casual, yet still dressy.  Everything else I wore was simply some of my favorite things:  sparkle, ruffles, gold accessories and leopard print.   That’s really all I was...

Boot Collection

Accessories

The subject of boots although exciting, can be overwhelming! I actually just had this conversation with my little sister. She said shortly before Christmas that if nothing else she’s always happy with a great pair of boots (and I couldn’t agree more!)  And in further discussion, we realized how hard the decision can actually be because there are so many amazing boots out there.  Over the knee, just under the knee, mid-calf, booties, gray, dark gray, black, brown, tan, light brown, colored, suede, leather, studded, buckles, laces, bows, pointy toes, rounded, heeled, flat… the options are endless! The other thing that’s...

Shoes and… more shoes!

Shopping

So I definitely made a New Year’s resolution to do less online shopping (it is WAY too easy and so much to choose from), but I justified these two new pairs of shoes as an early birthday present to myself! I got these a week and a half ago from Justfab.com, had to check it out after all the commercials and I absolutely love it! They had a lot of shoes/bags, etc. that were selected for me based off my selections on certain shoe/outfit styles. I would definitely recommend at least checking it out, plus I got the first...

Savvy Stripes

Outfits

There is nothing better than a classic turtleneck with a simple pattern like this black and white striped one. It is a great piece for me to wear to work because it keeps me warm (during the winter I have wear fingerless gloves to stay warm). Also, to keep from getting bored of pants and long-sleeve shirts during the winter, I might keep my scarf on during work as a warm accessory, otherwise the necklace works as my main accessory. Of course my shoes are where my personality comes out and this purple suede pair has done well for...

In the Trenches

Outfits

I think one of the most powerful and put together looks of all time for outerwear is the trench coat. This is why last year when I realized I was severely lacking professional outerwear, I knew I needed to find a trench coat …and on a starting salary I needed an affordable one. I literally felt like I was robbing Target when I walked out with this trendy, almost silk-like one for $19.99. I thought if it only lasted me one season, it would be worth it. Of course like many clothing items I buy (economical or more expensive),...

Polka Dots + Accessories = LOVE

Accessories

I’m super excited to write my first post focusing exclusively on accessories because accessories are where I have the most fun! In fact, accessories are the glue that hold together my looks and really inspire me to try new things. Don’t get me wrong, I love the clothing itself, but I get really excited playing with the same clothing and accessorizing differently to completely make a new outfit.  And now time for this accessories post’s focus… polka dots! Polka dots were another huge trend seen on the runway this year and what could be a better way to wear...

The Diva Within

Outfits

I’ve been in the “real world” for less than two years, so transitioning from class/going out outfits to work outfits has been pretty difficult. This isn’t because I don’t know how to dress professionally, but it is because sometimes I still struggle fitting my personal style into professional looks. Pairing this tunic with gold sequins with a blazer or cardigan is the perfect way to make looking professional more fun. This look is also great because with a few more details, you are ready for a night out on the town… time to let the diva out! Adding eyeliner...

All Black On, Blacked Out Shades

Outfits

Since its November in Minnesota, dressing for warmth isn’t an option, it’s a must. It can be hard to transition from beautiful fall days to temperatures close to zero, but there are plenty of ways to look put together and stay warm without looking too bulky. Pleather or leather leggings are not only warm, but extremely comfortable and chic. I can literally wear them out anytime of the year, but they are especially great for cold nights out in Minneapolis and here they are my favorite part of this outfit. (Oh, and I also love the sequins on this...
