Ellie: Where Fashion Meets Fitness

Fitness has always been an important part of my life. I really enjoy working out, it gives me an opportunity to get away from everything else and just let the stress out. Last year though was not a good year for me and fitness. To be honest, I’m not sure if it was how busy I got with volunteering and work or just the mere fact I got lazy. This year, I have been paying for it. Starting in January, one of my goals was to make working out and eating healthy a priority. While I’m still not quite where I want to be, I know I am on the right path to being healthy again. I didn’t want to do some crazy work out program or limit myself to a certain amount of calories a day because I want this to be a part of my lifestyle, not just something I do for an event coming up…

I have made an effort to work out 4 times a week for at least 30-40 minutes.  Have I accomplished this each and every week? Nope. Could I be doing more? Yep. But here’s the deal, life gets busy and some weeks I’m going to work out 5-6 times a week and other weeks I’m barely going to make it to the gym twice. I have made progress, which I can tell my how my clothes fit me and how I feel, not by a scale (a scale would drive me crazy).

One way that has helped me make it a priority is Ellie. I mean, working out is a lot easier when you wear cute work out clothes, right?! I actually joined Ellie when it was a fitness subscription called pvBody that would send you two pieces each month at random. Now it operates more like JustFab or ShoeDazzle, where you can skip a month or choose your own two pieces for $49.95. To me, $49.95 is not too shabby for a new, high-quality work out outfit. Especially since you can choose two leggings or two tops. I have been a big supporter of Ellie before deciding to become an ambassador for them. They graciously sent me this outfit, but I have been buying and wearing Ellie for awhile now (see here, here and here). They have a great selection of tops, leggings and shorts that work well for all types of fitness activities. I like to run outside and go to the gym, and for running, this outfit is perfect.

I still have a long ways to go. I still need to make it MORE of a priority. I still need to fit fitness into my weekend plans, but I am trying to best to incorporate it into my lifestyle.

I need to make more of an effort to work out. It’s so sporadic for me, I really need to be better! Great workout gear would definitely help though, and I love the pieces you’re wearing!

It can definitely be sporadic for me too, but when I have a night at home and I’m not completely tired to the point I can’t move (some days at work really make me this mentally and physically exhausted!) then I make myself go do something! I change and leave, no questions, no second thoughts. It is difficult some nights, but it is what works for me. I would prefer to be a morning work out person, but I’m not a morning person so it doesn’t really work out the best!

BAHA, yeah I mean I used to work out in paint spattered shorts and old t-shirts. I will definitely still wear those types of clothes because I’m working out, not trying to look nice for other people. But the way I feel when I’m in nicer work out clothes motivates me even more!

I totally agree with your mindset. Fitness and wellness has to be a lifestyle – and that means recognizing that some weeks are better than others. 🙂 I love the idea of getting workout clothes every month! There’s nothing that motivates me more than getting new sneakers!

I LOVE getting new sneakers! Seriously it is the best, but I only do that twice a year because they are kind of pricey! I used to get them every 3-4 months when I use to run a lot!

That top is cute! I really, really wanted to get into fitness and for a little while I did. But for the past few months I haven’t been making an effort at all. Finally broke down and canceled my $47/month gym membership. I’m hoping I start walking around my neighborhood more and finding other (cheaper) ways to exercise. Great post!

Erin, that’s great that you are finding more affordable ways to work out! I used to have a $30/month gym membership, which wasn’t bad but then I moved and the closet LA Fitness was a 25 minute drive… no longer worth it. The gym at our apartment isn’t bad and we are moving at the end of the month to a place that has a fantastic gym, with free weights and yoga balls. All the things I’ve been missing! But I have also been trying to get out, take long walks, run, etc.

I absolutely love this workout outfit! I’m a big supporter of fitness. I cycle, kickbox, and do TRX and it always makes me feel like a new woman afterwards. The best is when you’re looking fabulous while doing it (as you do)! Hope you had an awesome weekend, Rachel!

    Have a great day!

I’m in desperate need to get my butt in gear again. I think I would be much more motivated if I had some new, cute workout gear. I have new socks and shoes, but my running capris are a few years old, and I usually wear a college tee when I hit the gym. Not my best look… 🙂
