Blazer and Jeans: Dressed Up

blazer and jeans dressed up

When it was cold on Mother’s Day, instead of opting for my sleeveless, knee-length dress, I decided to throw on my orange blouse from 10DollarMall.com and once again paired it with my white blazer and skinny jeans. On Monday, I shared my blazer and jeans casual style, and today I’m sharing how I dress them up. I added a teal necklace for some interest and was ready to celebrate Mother’s Day! There are tons of other ways to dress up jeans and blazer, but adding a statement necklace, some fancy bracelets and a pair of heels is the simplest way to do it! Thank you to my little sister for snapping these photos of me on her camera!

Florals + Bows

Two of my very favorite, very girly things/patterns to wear, florals and bows take over a large section of my closet. Also, who doesn’t love a little bit of florals when we are approaching spring. I like to pretend it makes it come sooner. On the upside, we did have a heat wave yesterday being above 32 degrees. Man did it feel good! Hope you are having a great week, Happy Hump Day!

Snow Leopard Booties in the Snow

Last year I noticed my lack of color throughout my winter wardrobe, so it has been a goal this year to incorporate bright colors. It seems to help cheer me up when I walk outside and freeze my butt off! I wore this to go shopping on Saturday with my boyfriend. I ended up finding my NYE dress along with jewelry for the occasion. He walked out with a new pair of boots, two pairs of jeans and a Kenneth Cole watch all for under $70 (he had a pretty nice gift card there). It was fun to go shopping together, which we used to do a lot more often, but have been trying to save and spend money on more practical things. Considering we call the week between Christmas and New Years Christmas week, I think we justify our spending habits by assuring ourselves it is still Christmas time, and thus still okay to buy gifts for ourselves. How was your weekend? What is your plan for tonight?! No matter your plans, I hope you have a fun and safe New Year! Talk to you in 2013 :)

Sassy Accessories

Recently, I was contacted by Firmoo about trying out a pair of glasses, in my case, non-prescription glasses, and do a review on the fit and style.  I LOVE the idea of wearing glasses as an accessory and honestly I have always been jealous of people who wear glasses because I think they are so adorable and can really make you look sassy!  Glasses = nerdy? No… glasses = sexy! Just like a great statement necklace, bag or pair of heels, non-prescription glasses can really make a statement and be fun with more dressy or casual outfits.  I have styled a pair of non-prescription glasses I bought last year with a menswear look (seen here) so this time I wanted to style the Firmoo pair with a more casual, fun outfit! Faux leather leggings, a white blouse, chambray top and leopard print heels is an outfit I could wear all day, every day and a look I can wear out too! I absolutely love my pair of Firmoo and can’t wait to wear it with more dressy and office-appropriate looks.

If you are looking for a stylish, cute pair of prescription or non-prescription glasses, Firmoo has a wide selection where you can narrow down the options by shape, material and frame. I liked the idea of a rectangular frame and a tortoise print, similar to my favorite pair of sunglasses.  If you are looking for a new pair of glasses, Firmoo offers first-time buyers a free pair (you just have to pay the shipping)! Always nice if you are looking to try something new!

DIY Weekend

The project I started but never finished! Neon earrings... will be adding neon yellow to the center!

Hello! Sorry about the lack of outfit posts, it has been quite the week! Anywho… after a long week what’s better than hanging out at home and doing some DIYs and crafts?! I was already planning on doing a couple DIYs this weekend, including making my own neon earrings and gold shorts… and after seeing Lauren Conrad’s dainty bracelet DIY, I will be doing that as well! Oh, and making my own puppy toys out of old shirts! I am excited to puppy proof the place (ALL shoes are being stored in closet, which will remain shut at all times!) and do some fun crafts this weekend!

What DIYs have you been doing lately? Any must-do DIYs I should be doing this weekend?!

Leopard & Sneakers

What to wear when you go mini golfing and its super hot outside?! A light, sleeveless blouse, mini skirt and sneakers! This is what I wore yesterday to go mini golfing with my friend and then eating dinner (sticky rice and sliced beef, yum!) It was super fun and this outfit was perfect to beat the heat! Hope everyone had a great weekend and you have an amazing Monday!

A Thousand Small Strides

This weekend was my little sister’s high school graduation and open house.  As I sat down at her commencement, I wasn’t overly excited to sit through close to 400 names being called off, but of course I was excited  to be there to support her and her accomplishments.  As I sat there and listened to her classmate’s (and one of her closest friends) commencement speech called “A Thousand Small Strides” I realized that this was hitting closer to home than the commencement speech I sat through for my own graduation.  A great message and important to remember that life, dreams and goals are accomplished one stride at a time, not in one big step.  Even if the end goal seems so distance, how much harder is it to make that next stride?  There have been many ups and downs since I graduated high school and even since I graduated college, and it is nice to remember that even though it is hard to not focus on the future, living in the present and taking one small stride can lead to the ultimate goals.  After a refreshing weekend with my family and boyfriend, I am excited for an amazing summer and dreaming big!

New Obsession: Colorful Bracelets

Colorful Bracelets

I have always been a fan of cuffs and bracelets but have never owned any colorful bracelets… just silver and gold cuffs, white and pearls.  I have no idea why though, they are amazing! I just bought a teal and purple bracelet from Lia Sophia and have a hot pink bracelet on the way from Jada’s Jewels.  Here are a few of my other favorites right now that will probably be added to my collection before the end of summer!
