Summer Days in a Red Polka Dot Dress

Hello friends! Happy July, happy summer! I hope life has been going well for you. The red-fire heat of summer is here to stay, and I’m embracing it with some red of my own. Over the 4th of July, I was lucky enough to spend time with some of my dearest friends from high school in Independence, Iowa. Independence is near my hometown of Cedar Falls, so I was also able to spend a wonderful day with my family (even though I was also working remotely that day). While I worked, my mom and husband went to Goodwill. There’s nothing I love more than seeing my family and my husband bond. I asked if she could look for any dresses I might like, as I tend to get lucky while thrifting at this Goodwill. Well, she clearly did a great job – because here I am in this little red, vintage, polka dot dress! And is it not the cutest for summer? I’m a little sad I got it a day after the 4th, but I love it so much I wore it twice over the past weekend. It’s so cute because she asked my husband his opinion, and he was so impressed because she picked something I would literally pick out myself. I guess I got it from my mama!

Summer Style: Polka Dot Dress

My Vintage Summer Style

Every summer, I love the opportunity to wear my favorite vintage dresses and make it my go-to summer style! One of my favorites that I’ve had for years, is an easy-breezy button-up polka dot dress. I’ve worn it previously on the blog with a tweed jacket and once with a bow belt, but this weekend – I wore it simply with a summer straw hat and a pair of Steve Madden wedges. While this particular vintage polka dot dress is not for sale – I found a very similar one from Etsy!

Summer Vintage Style

Summers always seem to get crazy – between the amount of travels and local fun things going on, I feel like I can never keep up with it all! That’s why my fiancé and I spent this past weekend as a mix of relaxing and getting caught up (laundry, groceries, working out…). I’m also excited to have a couple more weekends off before our next adventure. But – we had an AMAZING time in Denver – so it was worth it.

Blush Pink

pink dress for valentine's day

So a couple days ago I shared a thrifted red lace dress and today I’m sharing this blush pink dress I thrifted the same night! This one is a bit more professional, so to make it more appropriate for a Valentine’s date, I added a sleek pair of patent pumps and a sequin clutch. The contrast of the black gives it a bit more interest than when I originally paired it with nude pumps. Is it just me, or do you always pair similar shades together? Blush pink + beige or nude just seems to make sense, but I love the way these black pumps looked with it!
