A New Green Skirt

This is my second post about transforming cocktail dresses into new pieces (you can see the first post here).  I bought this green, embellished dress for New Year’s this year  because I loved the color, but after dry cleaning the dress it hung back up in my row of cocktail dresses.  And this is the way it has always gone after buying a new dress for a specific event. That is why I decided to challenge myself to change some of my most recent dress purchases into something new! I transformed my lace dress into a lace turtleneck to wear to work and for this post, I transformed my New Year’s dress into more of a green skirt, although with this gray shirt, the embellishment of the top shows as well, so I pretty much just layered over my dress.  This is another going out look, but far from a cocktail dress.  I added my big black belt and zipper heels for some fun! I think I know what I’m wearing out for St. Patrick’s Day now!

Green Dress – Lulu’s (Old)

Gray Sweater – Express (Old)

Black Belt – Primark (Old)

Gray Tights – Younkers (Old)

Zipper Heels – Jessica Simpson (Old)

Fabulous remix, Rachel! I love that you are doing these posts, they are inspiring me to remix more. Dresses as skirts are such a great way to get more wear out of clothes. And I love that you can reuse the green for St. Pat’s 🙂

Wow! At first glance I never would have guessed that this is a cocktail dress. What a creative way to make it into a day-wear item. – Katy

I thought the skirt looked like something I’d seen before, and it was a dress I used to have! Great idea turning it into a skirt, I love how you’ve used the sweater over top! Love this outfit!
