Lace Loving

lace_3

This is my first time linking up to Marion’s Trend of the Month Challenge and I couldn’t be more excited about this month’s challenge: lace. I have quite a few lace pieces, mostly neutral ones, so I wanted to challenge myself to wear a lace piece I haven’t in awhile AND in a new way. I just transformed my denim dress into a shirt a few weeks ago, so I decided to transform this lace dress into a shirt as well. Of course, completely work INAPPROPRIATE as a dress. Add my favorite maxi and it was completely work appropriate. Hooray! My biggest challenge in shopping lately is buying items that I can wear both to work AND on the weekends. I didn’t buy this dress with the intention of both, but I guess I found out it has more uses!

I love using dresses as either tops or skirts, and this dress is PERFECT as a top. Great work!! You look gorgeous. And so does your view, by the way…love those pine trees :).

I really like this and this color looks great on you! I’m so mad, I thought the trend for today was a pop of orange, I swear she said that last week, hence my outfit today. I’m wearing lace tomorrow, so I’m so annoyed I didn’t figure out I was wrong until I posted today. Oh well, there’s always next time.

Oh no, that’s sad! I’m sure you can still link up tomorrow! I think she has it open for a full week or so 🙂 And yes, there is always next month! I love these challenges because it helps me find new blogs 🙂

Oh that necklace is lovely, as is the maxi! It’s always fun to wear items in a completely different manner from how they’re expected to be worn off the hanger.

Heather, thanks for your comment! I actually got this maxi skirt on sale at the end of 2011! It must have been from the fall 2011 line or something because I bought it in December! Hopefully there will be some other cute items coming out in her line this spring though… including pleated maxis!

Awww thanks Kimmie! You are so sweet! I do love this outfit, one of my favorites for sure 🙂

Loving this fun skirt and matching necklace! These look great on you. And how convenient that there is a beautiful snowy background to compliment your outfit! Thanks for sharing! Xo, M&K at brewedtogether.com

I love this look, Rachel! I try to buy things that can be worn on weekends and to work too…and it definitely can be challenging! Love how you made this dress work both ways – you have me wondering what work inappropriate things I can pull out of my closet and make them work…for work!

I think it goes without saying that I’m in love with your top! I can’t believe it used to be a dress! You look absolutely gorgeous in this outfit!

You look great! I also try find ways to style my work clothes in a more casual way. I no longer have an office job, so its a very useful skill for me to learn. I love the maxi skirt with your lace dress!
