I decided to deck out my nails out for Valentine’s Day by alternating a hot red and pink polish and doing something different with the thumb nail. I love a glitter polish layer over a white nail and was inspired by a lot of the Valentine’s Day candies out there (okay so the pink, red and white M&Ms, so cute and so yummy). Life has been interesting as of lately. This week we went couch shopping as our poor old couch is on its last leg (literally). Gotta love when unexpected expenses come up! Also, I’ve rearranged changed my priorities in the past week with the top ones being working out/eating healthy and getting organized. There has been a lack of outfit posts lately too, which has been a combination of me coming home and changing into work out clothes ASAP and not wanting to stand outside in the cold. Indoor pictures don’t ever turn out well in our apartment because we have a lack of lighting (no central lighting, just the lamps that we have bought and placed in rooms). So anyway, I started Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred on Tuesday and have been sore and tired ever since. Seriously though, I hope it will pay off and get me back on track to working out on a consistent basis and being healthy along with a good diet (hopefully I stick to the full 30 day shred). I can’t focus my energy in all the places I want to right now, so I have to prioritize and this is how it has turned out for me.
Since Valentine’s Day is now only a week away, I thought it would be fun to share some of my looks from last year. I will be doing a couple posts next week as well on what to wear and what I’ll be wearing this year as well. It has been a LONG time since I’ve done a beauty routine post, so I decided to do an update since some of my products have changed. I have to be honest about something, as much as I love a good deal on clothing, I am much more willing to splurge on beauty products. I justify my spending on beauty products based on the fact that they are in use every day! I have had trouble skin for over 7 years now, and although I’ve come close to a perfect routine that keeps my skin fairly clear, I’ve never had naturally flawless skin. I break out easily from stress, and if I’m not breaking out, I usually have discoloration and my skin type is very oily. Finding the right products for my skin has always been a problem, but I’m always willing to try new things. Here is my current routine:
I wanted to start doing a weekend post just to wrap up the week and share some of the things I’ve been loving but haven’t shared elsewhere during the week, or at least expand on them more, and as a way to share some of the other things I love aside from clothes and shoes (even though today that is pretty much the focus). Probably will vary from week to week, but I promise I will try to make it fun!

This Friday’s casual outfit was a complete recreation of a look from Happily Grey (see her outfit here). I pinned this look awhile back from my friend and once I got this polka dot top for my birthday, I remembered how striking a beige/black polka dot top looks with a neon scarf (Yup, that’s right… I can seriously remember WAY too many of the things I’ve pinned… kind of scary). Since I just got my neon infinity scarf with my January budget, it was the perfect time to try this look. I hate to admit that Casual Fridays are not easy for me. During the week I’m usually in pencil skirts, maxis or work pants, so I am really focused on dressing up. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE being able to wear jeans at my job every Friday, but because I’ve been out of the habit of dressing more casually or dressing up jeans, it makes it hard for me to get it right. This is why I need inspiration… this is why Pinterest, other bloggers like Mary from Happily Grey and YOU make life so awesome. THANK YOU FOR ALWAYS INSPIRING ME!

I found an $18 long sequin dress at Forever21 the day before my birthday (updated now in my budget post here), so I couldn’t resist buying it after trying it on and falling in love. I was hoping to find a pink dress, but hey, when you find a good deal (covered in sequins), how can you say no? Paired with some crazy earrings and glitter shoes, I was all ready to celebrate!
